Oslo 10. June 2002.
EDB Business Partner has signed a contract to provide a continuity solution for Gjensidige NOR's banking systems. The agreement runs to the end of 2005, and is worth some NOK 55 million in total. The continuity solution will be supplied by EDB Teamco, a wholly owned subsidiary of EDB Business Partner.
The continuity solution is based on a new generation of standby systems designed to ensure near synchronous information and systems content at an alternative and geographically diverse operational facility. This will meet the bank's need to rapidly re-establish its operations in the event of an extraordinary incident in their primary operational facility.
"It is strategically very important for us to ensure that our customers can have continuous access to the services we offer, and this contract provides greater insurance against the impact a major operational failure might have on our services", explains Tom Kranøy, the Managing Director of Gjensidige NOR IT-partner.
"We welcome this contract as further evidence that we have won back the confidence of the banking sector, and it represents a successful expansion of the services we offer to give banks optimal continuity support for their operational systems", adds Ole Urdahl, Deputy Managing Director of EDB Teamco.
The new contract represents an addition to the existing contractual relationship between the bank and EDB Business Partner for the supply of software solutions (EDB Fellesdata) and computer operating services (EDB Teamco), and also includes the savings banks that collaborate with Gjensidige NOR.
